Photography has taught me patience, poetry, life: Ankha Millo

I visited Arunachal Pradesh a long long time back and spent days traveling solo in Tawang and areas around. That one visit made me fall madly in love with the state as well as the entire North-East. Unfortunately, I could never go back to the region till I found Ankha Millo's account on Instagram a while back. With her images I could revisit the state every day and see it through her eyes.

Honestly they are fed up with tourists paparazzi clicking their pics, unless you pay them.

So who is Ankha?
I have been trying to come up with a nice answer to this. But i would like to believe i am the child of the sun and the moon, who happened to rise from the earth.

I am a Dentist by profession, it keeps me humble. I also write poems, click photographs. And i make time to travel as much as I can. I am currently working on my writing, but its a little early to talk about it.

You and me.

Let's pretend once again,
To being back to strangers.

What was life like when you were a kid?
My childhood was perfect. I have 5 siblings, and we never really got bored or lonely. I grew up all around karnataka, studied in a boarding near manipal. Every vacation was a memory. My father is in IFS so adventures came our way. Camping, hiking, rafting, was all been there, done that. I was the quietest among all the children, also creative. I had a way with my creativity in art or dance. Best memories to me where when we used to spend our weekends and holidays in a secluded tiny island in Kundapur. Day long picnics where we soaked ourselves in sun, sand and the sea.

Just drops...

Impression?
One that changed my views about my whole life and this world was a year ago, when I went on a week long tour in the interiors of Arunachal pradesh. Seven days without any connectivity with the world outside, I saw the beauty of my own state which was new to me. I was basically an outsider when i came here. I started looking at the world with a new perspective, the people, the nature, emotions, music everything had a different element to it.

Photographs?
I always had an inclination towards photography. Once i started taking it seriously, I evolved into a whole new person. I love capturing moments and emotions. I do minimal pre-planning during conceptual photography, rest I leave it to the subjects. Its important to make them comfortable with your body language and speech. When my intuition says its right, I press the shutter. But it is mostly a calculative guess. When you are quick enough to understand a persons body language, it comes down to their emotions, its easily seen in a picture.

Nature photography is equally challenging. Its mostly about the light and angles. Photography has taught me patience, poetry, life.

I can't really explain this.
I don't know what she saw or what she was thinking.

The moment I walked into a post card.
The loved, the lost, the longing.
Each a different journey.

Relationship?Yes, i am in love. Its been three years now. Only through his encouragement and understanding i actually explored my creative side. There were days, when I gave up because I used to worry a lot about being rejected for my thoughts and perspective. Now its a long distance relationship and Most of the lines I write these days, its all him. Touch wood.

So tell me your dream Ankha...
My dream is to save people, either through my work, words or art. The world is a cruel place, everyone wants to be saved one way or other.
