This article is a part of Relish the Challenge contest by Godrej Cinthol and here is my second entry for week three :) Every week two new personal challenge from my life!
This was a challenge for me till I tried it, and now that I have tried it already I am ready to do it again...at another place and a much higher one!
Of course I am talking about my first
skydiving experience in
California last year :) Despite being a true-blue pahadi boy, I am not too comfortable with heights though I trek regularly and quite enjoying reaching summits. But the fear remains...
Skydiving for me was as much fun as it was getting over my fear, and when I actually think about the exact second when I took the plunge into air from 18,000 feet, I can absolutely relive the moment. I guess that's what I call relishing the challenge! Reliving the challenge sometimes can be extremely rewarding as while you are actually in the act there is such intense adrenaline rush that one can often forget to simply enjoy it.
Enjoy the images and the video from the jump below followed by a sketch representation by some of my friends back home in India...its absolutely and completely hilarious :)

Inside the plane...heartbeats were already up, but I was up for the challenge! |
 |
Just a second before I jumped! |
 |
Screaming, yet relaxed... |
 |
Screaming still...its funny to see my mouth open in almost all images! |
 |
Floating mid-air |
 |
Just after the landing |
 |
And finally the sketch :) |
Wow..Im feeling kinda jealous here..I hope to go sky diving someday :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah..funny yet creative sketch
All the best :)
Just go do it! Its one of the most awesome experiences ever :)
DeleteI've been regularly following your blog for a while now and WOW. Do you ever stay still? I've never known / heard of another Indian who is this big a vagabond. And, a pahadi! I thought I was the only one to use that term. :D
ReplyDeleteThe chadar trek from earlier this year! Seriously. You're a rockstar and you're colouring it right in all shades of happy! Kudos to you.
Thanks Shreya! And you are a Pahadi as well? :)
DeleteYour compliments are overwhelming...thank you again :)
Well, not a pahadi by birth, but one by choice for sure! Been living with pahadis for 3 years now and have become one too, I think! :D It'd be best to hope to bump into you somewhere, while on some trail with a backpack.
DeleteAbsolutely! Planned meetings usually don't work anyways...bumping on treks is the best! :)
DeleteYou SHOULD make it a point to visit Bhutan, if you already haven't. Just a suggestion because I wanted to drop it in. :)
DeleteThats a good suggestion...I do want to go there! A lot :)
