Just a random picture, pretty girl though makes it interesting :) |
I looked around for my favorite shop and was suddenly worried that it might be missing this Sunday, thankfully it wasn't the case and the smell of the vegetable quiche pulled me to the shop. Its a tiny baker's shop at the Sunday's Farmer's Market at the California Avenue in Palo Alto. And I love it, the croissant, the quiche, the tarts, the pies and everything else which is tough to pronounce, but absolutely delightful to the tongue.
For the more curious souls, have a look at the post on a Sunday Market from my previous city Ahmedabad here. The contrast is stark, yet both the places are extremely interesting.

Just an interesting couple... |
|
More oranges... |
|
As usual kids make for some interesting pictures... |
|
The old man with Violin, he played outside a popular Jewish Bagel shop...and his music was simply magical. Old classics, though manly by famous Jewish artists from Europe. I clapped for him almost constantly :) |
|
Just a shopper... |
It was Pratap (super helpful senior from NID and currently also at Stanford d school), who told me about the
place and the fact that its a five minute walk from home immediately
made me a regular here. Initially my interest was in the photographying
people and enjoy the fantastic street music, but it soon shifted to
food! No regrets there :)
|
Another musician, many kids danced to his tunes... |
|
And my favorite artist is back :) |
Fruits are the other things which are amazing here, I usually buy my week's supply of apples and dried nectarines and apricots. Now I already feel like opening a pack and munch on some on some. There are also a couple of India shops, I go there only if I am really missing Indian food, which in itself is rare. Anyway, the pictures say the rest of the story...
|
A typical vegetable shop, I love them though I buy no veggies |
|
Lady from my favorite shop, she is a little stern, but I love all the stuff there :) |
|
And some food from the shop... |
|
One of my favorite pics, the girl dancing to the guitar... |

DeleteWe have a market like this here in the summer months, it's always a cool thing to attend. It's every Sunday and we call it the Farmer's Market, though I'm not sure why. It's long expanded the realm of fruits and vegetables these days.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how it is here as well, and it has moved much beyond the fruits and vegetables. I even see vanity products etc on sale...plus loads and loads of food :)
DeleteBeautiful images. Here I was seeing you wonderful work in India and suddenly I see a complet shit. I love the way you photograph people would love to from you
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Sudhir...and I assume shit=shift, or so I hope :)

ReplyDeleteHaha Sudhir, I got that part as well :) Though I may not be any good at teaching anything much useful to anyone, I am also constantly trying to learn...
DeleteGreat pictures. The last one is really good. Do you edit your pictures on photoshop?
ReplyDeleteThanks Hemu! Sometimes I do, or actually used to do. No longer have Photoshop on my laptop, so no editing for a while now...
