Project 365 - Tell me you Deam - Week 3

Starting this first of January, I started a project to collect and share dreams. Dreams of common people, the ones we meet on the streets everyday and never usually talk to. Or dreams of people who are just like us. Anyone's dream.
One dream, each day!
My hope is that I will meet and understand many more people, their lives, empathize with them and in the process make some new friends.
Now I have also started a blog for this specific purpose. Do have a look :)

"I have a more personal dream, I want to bring all happiness to my family - my parents, wife and one daughter. However, to get them happiness I need a lot of money. They won't be happy just by my presence, but need more than that. They need money."

Prem Patel is Prakash's brother-in-law (I wrote about him in an earlier post) and they live together in Pune. He came here with Prakash and currently work in his shop only, however in near future he wants to have his own shop. For now he serves the tea that Prakash makes.

project 365 tell me your dream

"I dream of working in the area of education for children, especially children in the rural parts of the country. I would actually start from Uttar Pradesh as that is the state that I understand the best. I will start it with a pilot project in one village with my own funds and then see how to take it forward. I think I will be ready with a plan and also initial funds by the time I am fourty."

Sonakshi has lived a comfortable life most of her life, but there was one phase when her dad was without salary for one whole year. Her mother was completely dependent on her father for financial support, and during this time she and her needs suffered the most. It was at this time that Sonakshi's mother told her to be an independent woman, especially financially.

Now she works as a designer making products that is feels deeply committed and connected to. She loves the independence that money has given her, and makes sure that her mother also gets to be a part of it.

Tulsiram Mane

"I dream of owing a four-wheeler now. I have been riding an auto for almost eighteen years now, and its very uncomfortable for my back. With a four-wheeler I can travel far and wide. I will take an all India permit and take passengers through the country. My preferred car brand is surely Maruti and I think I will but a Dzire and make it into my taxi."

Tulsiram Mane comes from a village near Hadapsar, but now settled in Pune with his wife, daughter and son. He was a dropout from school and for years wasted his time doing nothing till he started working with a tailor. He was bored in three years and decided to buy an auto as some of his friends were already in the business. Now he has his own auto.

He is very keen to see both his kids study. He wants his daughter to take up a job before she gets married; he does not want them to live a life like his own.

Mahesh

"I dream of a future for me where I spend every waking minute thinking about expanding work, generating revenue and doing new things. To start with I plan to do some exciting work on a new medical technology and something in transportation design, as that's my design discipline."

To Mahesh the biggest influence in his life has been the three years he spent at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, especially his relationship with his girl friend there. She came from a business family and influenced him to think the way he thinks now. They have both moved on now, though he still looks forward to a partner who can think business with him so that they can use their time effectively together.

Neha

"I dream of a big big family - my family, my in-laws, maybe ten or twelve kids and many animals, all living together in a farm somewhere outside the city. I know I can't have so many kids, so I will adopt, but I do want them all."

Neha has had quite a life, mostly that of a rebel. In Lucknow at home her father was very conservative and she didn't like the way her mother was treated, so she ran away from home. In Mumbai she studied event mgmt and also worked alongside, trying out media, yoga and traveling alongside.

Being a rebel is an essential part of her personality - she got married at a time when her family was convinced that she would always stay single, and now when her in-laws had given up the hope of grand-kids, she wants many of them.

"I am so old so right now that I would rather have a dream for you. I dream that you live a very happy and successful life, and that you take care of the people in your life."

Phekan Bai Patel comes from a tiny village called Arang in Chattisgarh. She has three sons and three daughters-in-law and one daughter who is still unmarried, and so a major cause of worry. She is now just waiting for her death as she thinks earth is calling her, she also thinks her sons are waiting for her die.

Prasad

tell me yuur dream project 365

"I have a very simple dream. I have two kids - one son and one daughter. My son wants to be a doctor and my daughter wants to be in the police. My dream is to help them both realize their dream."

Prasad currently works as a cook at Government guest house in Sirpur, Chhattisgarh and hates the days when he is given the task of peeling potatoes or cutting onions for the entire day. I appreciated this better when he told me that he has done MA in Political Science and this was a temporary job till he finds something better.

He comes from the Naxal infested area of the state and has actually witnessed their training also. He is not in favour of their violent means, but not as opposed to their philosophy. His family stays there itself and his wife is the supervisor of Aanganwadi there.

Let's collaborate

I also intend to collaborate extensively for this project by inviting invitations from India as well as anywhere in the world. You don't need to be on Instagram to participate, all you need is a story and a dream. It would be just about anyone, it could also be you.

Read more on how to collaborate here.

P.s.the project will run throughout the year on my Instagram account and I will share a weekly round-up at the end of each week.

I started a Travel Video channel on YouTube recently. Do subscribe and and let me know what you think :)
