Splashing water in a secluded tribal forest in Dediapada, Gujarat

Stories simply flow when I think about my water adventures, my romance with the fluid has been there for a long time. So what makes the whole water experience so awesome? Well it's the adventure, the fun, the liveliness and the unexpectedness of each experience that makes each water experience so awesome! That's what Alive is Awesome for me...

Deep in the tribal forest areas go Dangs in Gujarat resides the majestic Ninai falls. Unknown to most, even in Gujarat…the falls are rather high and supposedly also very deep. We never got to check its depth as the guard posted there refused to  let us, but we had more than enough fun splashing around in the river coming out from the deep pond.

The falls from top, the trek and a tribal village

It was a group of five mad friends and we lived up to our reputation of madness :) Its not the easiest place to reach without a car and we had to hitchhike our way to the falls, taking a disproportionate number of hours off from the trip. Also a long trek is needed to reach the falls, and being as unprepared we were for it, we didn't carry enough water or food. We literally lived off Parle-G biscuits and water from the village well.

Manoj trying to vomit out the falls, the trek, and Vikram climbing up the hill for us

Also the trek down the hill into the river is amazing, it was just after the monsoon so it was also muddy and slippery. It just gets you dirty and hot enough to literally jump into the water. However, much to our initial disappointment the river was as muddy as we were :) But it was awesome nevertheless…cool water on a hot and sunny day, in a wild forest and sounds of only water and an occasional cricket.

Splashing water, a king in a water cave, and a pretty fly :)

Of course water also always comes with water sports and we invented some of our own. Also practiced some random dives in the shallow water. The images here do no justice to the actual beauty of the falls, and despite the muddy river it's an experience worth living at least once. It was adventure, fun and laughter all combined together in one day.

The beautiful green forest, Liril boy, and finally Ninai Falls

More adventure followed later when we went around looking for a place to stay, but that's a story for another day :)

Also, I've never seen a dragonfly of that coloration. We don't have them that color here. I LOVE that one. So vivid and vibrant and.. pink!

As for the dragonfly, the colorful ones are not as common as the plain gray ones here as well...
