Cruising at Santa Cruz!

As I sit and type the following story for the Cinthol Alive is Awesome campaign, I realize that its so much fun simply to recount these great past adventurous bathing experiences...

I walked alone away where I could hardly see anyone anymore on the beach, I wanted the solitude to enjoy the beautiful sound of sea waves. The Santa Cruz boardwalk was crowded on the Sunday morning, and after some intense photography, I realized that I wanted some time-out.

However my quest for solitude ended in something way more fun and adventurous. I ended up bumping into a bunch of young surfing dudes and got some quick surfing lessons. It was a cold windy day and the Pacific water was freezing cold, but the unexpected turn of events ensured that I not only got to try some boarding, but also ended up soaking in the cold water. Once inside water, the cold stopped mattering and I was soon swimming alone, enjoying myself completely.

I must mention here that though I was really keen on getting into the sea, but the fear of cold water combined with the new place had kept me out of water so far. The next hour or so was spent splashing in the freezing cold, but I loved it with all  my heart. Usually its just the moment before you take the leap and in a way that's also the most fun part, and often also gives the most adrenaline rush!

There are times when these absolutely unexpected moments stay with you for long afterwards as well. On this day when I was almost feeling low, bumping into this completely new and adventurous way to get soaked in icy cold water made my memories even more alive. Usually its the unexpected we fear, but when it comes to adventure and fun, it's the unexpected which makes these experiences memorable.
